How we work

Working alongside your nursing team.

In a nursing home, nail care has to fit around everything else: medication passes, meals, therapy and rest. We agree a standing day and time with your team, then work through the resident list at each resident’s pace, at the bedside when that’s what a resident needs.

Each resident’s care plan comes first. Where a care plan or your facility’s policy calls for a podiatrist, such as for some residents with diabetes or poor circulation, we defer to it. We are licensed nail technicians, not medical providers.

Anything a technician notices that may need clinical attention, such as redness, swelling, broken skin or a nail that looks unusual, is noted and passed to the nurse on duty the same day. Our technicians bring their own tools, products and sanitation setup, so your staff don’t need to prepare anything.

If your building has an in-house salon or a visiting hairstylist, nail visits can run on your salon day or on a day of their own. See nail salon services for nursing homes.

Safety and sanitation

Salon licensing standards, practiced in the resident's room.

Infection control is often the first question nursing staff ask. Here is how our technicians will work.

Disinfection between every resident

Reusable implements are cleaned and disinfected in an EPA-registered disinfectant that is tuberculocidal and effective against HIV and Hepatitis B, then stored in a clean closed container.

Single-use where it matters

Files, buffers and wooden sticks are used once and discarded. Nothing porous moves from one resident to the next.

Waterless when appropriate

No shared basins or soaking tubs for at-risk residents. Care is delivered dry or with single-use liners.

We stay in our lane

We are licensed nail technicians, not medical providers. We don't treat wounds, infections or nail disease. Anything of concern goes to your nursing staff or the resident's podiatrist.

Questions

Common questions

Can you provide nail care at the bedside?

Yes. Bedside and in-room care are available for residents who can’t easily get to a common area.

Do you work with residents who have diabetes?

Only as the resident’s care plan and your facility’s policy allow. Where a podiatrist is required, we defer to them.

How are concerns reported to nursing staff?

The technician notes what they see on the visit record and tells the nurse on duty the same day. We don’t treat wounds, infections or nail disease.

How is pricing set?

Pricing depends on how many residents need care and how often you’d like us to visit. You get clear pricing in writing before anything is booked.
