  • Care performed in the resident’s own chair, wheelchair or bed
  • A visual check, with anything of concern passed to nursing staff

How we work

Where residents are most vulnerable, we are most careful.

Toenails are the part of nail care residents are least able to manage themselves, and the part most often postponed. Bending, balance and eyesight all get in the way. Our technicians can come to the resident, keeping them seated and supported for the whole visit.

We never share soaking tubs between residents. For at-risk residents, care is delivered dry or with single-use liners, and every reusable implement is disinfected before the next person.

For residents with diabetes, poor circulation or other conditions that affect the feet, we follow your facility’s policy and the resident’s care plan. We are not podiatrists: wounds, infections and nail disease go to your nursing staff or the resident’s podiatrist.

Safety and sanitation

Salon licensing standards, practiced in the resident's room.

Infection control is often the first question nursing staff ask. Here is how our technicians will work.

Disinfection between every resident

Reusable implements are cleaned and disinfected in an EPA-registered disinfectant that is tuberculocidal and effective against HIV and Hepatitis B, then stored in a clean closed container.

Single-use where it matters

Files, buffers and wooden sticks are used once and discarded. Nothing porous moves from one resident to the next.

Waterless when appropriate

No shared basins or soaking tubs for at-risk residents. Care is delivered dry or with single-use liners.

We stay in our lane

We are licensed nail technicians, not medical providers. We don't treat wounds, infections or nail disease. Anything of concern goes to your nursing staff or the resident's podiatrist.

Questions

Common questions

Do you use foot baths?

Not shared ones. Care is delivered dry or with single-use liners, so nothing moves from one resident to the next.

Can you see residents with diabetes?

We follow your facility’s policy and the resident’s care plan. Where a podiatrist is required, we defer to them.

Do you treat ingrown or infected toenails?

No. We don’t treat infections, wounds or nail disease. We note what we see and refer it to your nursing staff or the resident’s podiatrist.
